Karen Cunningham, Biography

Karen began her advertising career in Production, working up the ranks before setting up her own company in 1996. Last year Karen decided to make the move into directing and has quickly made her mark on the industry. Her first commercial that she wrote and directed for The Half Moon Theatre Company, won Silver at BTAA 2007. Since then she has made several other award winning spots receiving Silver Midsummer 2007 and 2008, Bronze at Euro Best and Silver at BestAds on TV. In addition to this she was nominated for the ‘Top Ten New Directors’ in Boards Magazine, was one of Shots ‘New Directors to Watch’, and claimed the Runner up spot for Best New Director at the BTA Craft Awards. Since being represented by Tabu Films in Ireland, Karen has successfully shot two commercials for the HSE and Safefood. Her most recent accolades include picking up the Best New Young Director Viral award for the BBH 'Graduate Recruitment' in Cannes and 'Best New Director' in the Shark Awards 2008.
